QLBS played a major part in GLOBALG.A.P. ‘s worldwide conference, contributing at many levels.
Keith Phillips, CEO of QLBS, led the discussion on the impact of digital technologies on the Auditor profession. He felt that this could be a golden age for the industry if they embraced a data-driven culture.
“Auditors should become the data harvesters and the data custodians. They spend countless hours working with producers and packers and have the experience to know what quality data is. And in the new world, AI is only as good as the I (data).”
QLBS was also represented by their AI associate, Jonas Mikkleson, who is exploring how the data, that GLOBALG.A.P. auditors harvest, could play a vital part in reducing cost and increasing the value of Certification to their clients.
QLBS also took the lead in proposing how smallholders and their co-operatives could benefit from an AI-driven knowledge service to enable greater GLOBALG.A.P. certification and hence access to world food markets. Johan Cronje, the Innovation Lead at Global G.A.P., pulled together a team of key GLOBALG.A.P. members to discuss with QLBS the concept and committed to developing an action plan.
Astrid Gilpin, our North American Associate, also joined Keith Phillips in a discussion with Roberta Anderson, GLOBALG.A.P.’s President of America, on how we could also help cooperatives complete their Option 2 audits in a more efficient and added-value way.
Altogether, it was an invaluable Summit in which we were able to network and contribute.
