Australian Sports Commission

within the Australian sport sector The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) were introduced to QLBS by Sport NZ and were so impressed by the success Sport NZ were having in their efforts to improve the capability of sporting organisations, that they decided to use the same platform with modifications for their own specific needs.

How QLBS Helped

The initial focus has been on improving capabilities of clubs. Using the online self-assessment system, the ASC developed a customized set of questions called the Club Health Check, which vary depending on the profile of the clubs. On completion of the assessment, a detailed rich feedback report is automatically generated, that not only gives valuable specific advice but also links to further resources, depending on how questions have been answered and what priorities for improvement have been identified. Individual States and Sporting bodies automatically receive copies of relevant reports.

The ASC as overall administrators get a view of all completed assessments, and have set up online dashboards that provide results of the analysis. Access to different dashboard views is controlled by log- in details to ensure that States and Sporting bodies can access relevant information. Dashboard views are updated seamlessly as new assessments are completed and uploaded into the database.

The ASC has also used QLBS to do Board Evaluations of Sporting bodies, using the online self-assessment system which generates an overall report encompassing all individual assessment views and analysis, at the push of a button. The ASC were able to customize their own question sets to tailor the language to their own specific requirements. Using QLBS software to generate the assessments and analysis has been a major productivity gain. The next stage is to develop a question set of a best practice model for use by facilitators to assess the organisational development needs of Sporting bodies. Both the facilitator assessments and online self-assessments will be part of the same integrated system.

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is a statutory authority which is focused on getting more Australians participating and excelling in sport, by delivering key programs in line with the Australian Government’s sport policy objectives; providing financial support and other assistance to national sporting organisations to deliver participation and high performance results and improve their capability, sustainability and effectiveness; and building collaboration, alignment and effectiveness within the Australian sport sector
